Please allow about 60 minutes for a routine comprehensive eye exam. Visits that need additional testing or dilation may take longer.
Dilation is often part of a complete eye exam, but it isn’t always needed. Dilating drops can cause temporary blurry vision and light sensitivity, so we recommend bringing sunglasses and arranging a driver if needed.
Yes. We participate with many medical insurance plans, including Medicare and select commercial and Medicare Advantage plans. Please contact our office to confirm whether we participate with your specific plan.
We bill medical insurance for eye exams related to medical eye conditions, symptoms, or ongoing eye disease care, such as cataracts, glaucoma, diabetic eye disease, and dry eye disease.
Vision insurance is accepted for optical materials only, such as prescription eyeglasses and contact lenses, depending on your plan’s benefits. We do not bill vision insurance for eye exams.
If you have questions about your coverage, please call us at (225) 356-2655 before your appointment.

Yes! Dr. Okogbaa performs cataract surgery and offers consultations to determine the best treatment option for each patient.
Premium intraocular lenses (IOLs), such as PanOptix, Vivity, and Toric lenses, are advanced lens options that may reduce your need for glasses after cataract surgery. Not every patient is a candidate. Dr. Okogbaa will discuss the options that fit your eye health, lifestyle, and vision goals.
Glaucoma is a group of eye diseases that damage the optic nerve and can cause permanent vision loss. It often has no early symptoms, which is why routine eye exams are so important.
Yes. We offer SLT laser treatment for glaucoma and YAG laser capsulotomy to treat clouding that can develop after cataract surgery.
Diabetes can damage the blood vessels in the retina, often before you notice any change in your vision. A yearly dilated eye exam helps catch diabetic eye disease early and protect your sight.
Yes! Treatment depends on your symptoms and exam findings and may include lubricating drops, eyelid hygiene, warm compresses, punctal plugs, Miboflo thermal treatment, or amniotic membrane therapy.
Our surgical coordinator will give you detailed instructions before surgery, including medication guidance, eye drops, arrival time, and transportation requirements.
Yes. You must arrange for a responsible adult to drive you home after surgery. Our team will review any other transportation or facility requirements with you.
Most patients use prescribed eye drops around the time of surgery. Our surgical coordinator will review your drops with you and explain exactly when to start them.
Many patients notice improved vision within 24 to 48 hours, and most return to normal activities quickly. Complete healing may take several weeks. Always follow Dr. Okogbaa’s instructions and keep your follow-up appointments.
